JORS - Overview

The Journal of the Operational Research Society is published 12 times a year by Palgrave Macmillan on behalf of the ORS. It is the aim of the Journal to present papers which are relevant to practitioners, researchers, teachers, students and consumers of operational research, and which cover the theory, practice, history or methodology of OR. However, since OR is primarily an applied science, it is a major objective of the Journal to attract and publish accounts of good, practical case studies. Consequently, papers illustrating applications of OR to real problems are especially welcome.

Real applications of OR - forecasting, inventory, investment, location, logistics, maintenance, marketing, packing, purchasing, production, project management, reliability and scheduling
A wide variety of environments - community OR, education, energy, finance, government, health services, manufacturing industries, mining, sports, and transportation
Technical approaches - decision support systems, expert systems, heuristics, networks, mathematical programming, multicriteria decision methods, problems structuring methods, queues, and simulation

JORS Online

If you are currently a member of The OR Society, you can access JORS through the members' enclosure.

By going into the Palgrave Macmillan website from the members' enclosure you gain full access to all available J.O.R.S articles and abstracts (from 1997 onwards), free of charge, without having to fill in any more forms. This facility is not available when entering the Palgrave Macmillan site from anywhere else.

Non-members and non-subscribers of JORS will be able to view abstracts, if they have completed the online registration form at the Palgrave Macmillan website.

You can also sign up to receive a monthly email, listing the content of the latest issue of JORS:

Go to www.palgrave-journals.com/jors/index.html
Click on the 'E-Alert' option in the left hand menu.
Register to participate in the Palgrave Macmillan e-alerts mailing list system (fill in personal details, an email address and choose a password)
Choose 'click here'
Under 'Current users' fill in your email address and new password
Select the JORS option and click 'finished'
