OR47 - Essential Information
 

Essential information, including accommodation, registration, social events and meals are listed below.

Accommodation 

Room Keys

Delegates arriving on Monday should collect their room keys from Binks reception until 17:00 and then from Reception/Porter’s Lodge at Exton Park entrance, rooms are available from 14:00. Those arriving on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning can collect their room keys whilst registering in the Binks building.

En-suite accommodation is available in Astbury & Fisher (Basic en-suite), Gladstone (superior en-suite, double bedded rooms and single), Holly Bank en-suite single and John Milton twin-bedded ensuite.

There will be a designated storage area in the Small Hall opposite the Binks Building which will be manned Tuesday morning and also on Thursday when delegates have to vacate rooms by 09:30 at the latest.

Meals  

All meals will be served in the Dining Hall.

Dinner for delegates arriving on Monday
An evening meal will be available in the Dining Hall between 18:30 – 19:30. Your OR47 badges should be worn for identification to all meals. The student union bar called ‘Max250’ will be open to delegates on Monday and Tuesday evening until 12 midnight.

Breakfast will be in the Dining Hall each morning between 07:45 – 08:45.

Lunch is at the times indicated on your ‘Programme at a glance’

The evening meal on Tuesday is at 18:30 – 19:30 which will be followed by the Bar Quiz at 20:30 in the ‘Max250’ bar.

Parking

Parking is free in the car parks located on campus.

Swimming pool and Fitness Suite on campus

The pool will be open 07:15-09:00 and 12:00-13:30 for delegates at no charge. The Fitness Suite will also be open into the evening at a cost of £5.00 per session.

Conference details 

Conference registration desk

Delegates will register for the conference in Binks building from 09:00 on Tuesday, 13th September; an ORS conference representative will be available at this point throughout the conference.

Plenary Sessions

All Plenary Sessions will be held in Binks Lecture Theatre 1 whilst stream sessions will be held in both Binks and Cloisters. Please refer to your programme at a glance and the map at the end of this book to familiarise yourself with building locations.

Exhibition/Refreshment Area  

All stands and refreshments will be provided in the Binks building level 1 and 2.

Morning Prayer

There will be an Inter-denominational Christian service, Wednesday 14th September, 08:00 – 08:20 in the Chapel (14 on campus map).

Messages and Announcements

All timetable announcements as well as messages for delegates will be displayed in Binks building. Please make sure that you regularly check the notice board for any new information.

Access to Email  

For those delegates who feel the need to access their email accounts whilst at the conference we have arranged for a limited number of delegates, at any one time, to log onto the network. This facility will be available in the computer area in Binks known as the Open Access area. Log-in and password details will be available from the ORS representative at the Conference registration desk.


Social Activities 

The University Bar ‘Max250’ will be open on Monday and Tuesday evenings until 12 midnight. The Bar Quiz will be held in the bar from 20:30 and your Quizmaster for the evening will be Richard Eglese.

Wednesday afternoon social trips:

The five social trips are:

  • Walking tour of historic Chester
  • Visit to Vauxhall Motors
  • Visit to Lady Lever Gallery
  • Visit to Anderton Boat Lift
  • Visit to Chester Cathedral

A ticket for your chosen social trip has been included with your registration letter. These trips are at different times please check the time and bring your ticket with you since space is limited on each trip. Please can you return your ticket if you do not intend to go on your allocated social trip. It can then be reallocated.

Small Hall (26 on campus map) is the designated meeting point for all trips; please refer to your map with your registration letter. The trips will depart at different times, please check your ticket for exact time of departure, coaches will leave promptly at the appointed time. All trips will return to the College by approx. 18:00.

Conference Banquet at the Blue Planet Aquarium

Coaches will pick everyone up from the designated meeting point at Small Hall (26 on campus map) at 19:00.

The Drinks Reception starts at 19:20 at the Blue Planet Aquarium please bring your banquet ticket with you, since this will need to be handed in to obtain your first drink. The Banquet will start at 20:00.

After the banquet coaches will leave the Blue Planet Aquarium at 11:00 and 11:30 to return delegates to the University College. The ‘Max250’ bar on campus will not be open on your return.
