There are four main parts to this set of pages, coded by the colours of the menu bar:

In the green part is an introduction to the central concepts of 'soft OR'. We have also been working towards a general model of 'soft OR', and we have included some of this work in this section.
The blue section contains an introduction to, and exercises in, the techniques of Soft Systems Methodology.
The yellow part contains an introduction to, and exercises in the techniques of, Journey Making.
The red section contains two case studies, intended to allow you to use these analyses practically.

The various sections are not discrete. It is hoped that you will feel able to move between each as appropriate or necessary.

The purpose of these pages is to be a resource to help those teaching and learning about methodologies which fall under the broad umbrella 'Soft OR'. The project has been based in the Management Science Department at Lancaster University in the UK, with funding from the Operational Research Society

It was developed by Tim Hopkins, working with Iain Whitford for design and coding, under the direction of Michael Pidd and Mark Winter.
