To Create an Installation Disk

The creation of an Installation Disk will enable the software to be installed on a large number of computers easily. Three floppy disks are required, one for each set of files. The files for the Mentor and Guide2 disks will automatically be unzipped onto the disks following the instructions below, whilst the files for guide1 merely have to be copied straight over. To install the software onto a computer it just has to be installed onto C Drive. This can be done on as many different computers as required.

# Windows (Instructions for Guide 1)

1, Once the software is downloaded from the internet:
2, Go into Windows Explorer (or File Manager)
3, Go into the appropriate directory and find the files related to Guide1
4, Put a blank floppy disk into the Drive (check its formatted and has no viruses)
5, Select all the files and then go to Edit and Copy
6, Select Drive A and then click Edit and Paste

* Windows (Instructions for Mentor and Guide 2)

1, Once the software is downloaded from the internet:
2, Go into Start and then Run
3, Go into Browse and find mentor.exe
4, Put a blank floppy disk into the Drive (check its formatted and has no viruses)
5, Before clicking OK in the Run box, add some text so that altogether the box reads

C:\Mentor.exe a:\ -d

(obviously this varies depending on which drive you have downloaded the files to) Now click OK. This tells the computer to expand mentor.exe into the A Drive and include the directory structure
6, Repeat steps 1 to 5 with guide2.exe. Use a new blank floppy disk and replace mentor.exe in step 5 with guide2.exe.

Mentor PC Installation Guide

This process has produced three disks which can be used to install the software into any Windows 3.1 or 95 computer. To install it onto a computer, follow the Mentor PC installation Guide. This can be found at http://www.mentor.strath.ac.uk/install.html
